Indiana Criminal Code 2014

The 2013 Criminal Code Revision affects cases dating July 1, 2014, and beyond. The revision marks the first major overhaul of the Indiana Criminal Code since 1977. After years of bipartisan efforts, the revised Indiana Criminal Code was enacted to change the legal landscape for crimes. For instance, misdemeanor sentences were unaffected by the revision; however, the classification of felonies changed from the A-D system to the new 1-6 system in order to separate violent offenses from drug possession and property crimes.

Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council (IPAC)

Created in 1973, The Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council (IPAC) is a non-partisan, independent state judicial branch agency that includes 91 prosecuting attorneys and the respective chief deputies in Indiana. The Board of Directors consists of 10 members who are selected by the state’s prosecuting attorneys. The IPAC functions as a liaison between local, state, and federal agencies in an effort to provide assistance to law enforcement and promote the fair administration of justice. The agency provides manuals, legal research, and training seminars to prosecuting attorneys located across the state of Indiana.
