The Madison County Youth Center (MCYC) is a public social service agency dedicated to supporting youth who, for a variety of reasons, have been referred for services through the Madison County Superior Court, Division 2. It is the responsibility of MCYC staff to help empower these children to become confident, productive members of their families and our community. To accomplish this, we work to assist the youth in our care to develop functional behaviors to replace destructive ones. We strive to nurture the individual strengths of each child.
Job Requirements for All Positions
- Must be 21-years of age
- All prospective employees are required to have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- All prospective employees are required to pass a drug screen prior to employment and are subject to monthly random drug screens throughout the term of employment.
- A criminal history check will be conducted on all prospective employees. This includes a local, state, national, and BMV check. In addition, all non-secure childcare employees will be fingerprinted and an FBI and DCS (Department of Child Services) check will be completed.
- All prospective employees must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Upon hire, all employees are required to have a physical exam at the employee’s expense.
- Staff is required to maintain a minimum number of training hours per year.
- Staff is required to obtain and maintain certification in Handle with Care (physical restraint training), First Aid, CPR and Universal Precautions.
Secure Childcare
Secure childcare staff work in MCYC’s 32-bed co-ed juvenile detention facility designed for youth either found to be, or alleged to be, juvenile offenders. The juveniles are sight and sound monitored at all times. The youth in secure detention are provided opportunities to develop academic and social skills. Staff supervise the daily activities of the residents, implement a behavior management program, and serve as positive role models for youth.
Security
Security staff monitor the entire campus to ensure the safety and security of residents, staff, and the public. Security staff interact with other MCYC staff, residents, and the public to assist with crisis intervention, as well as general campus needs.
Emergency Shelter Care
Shelter Care is a 12-bed non-secure facility designed for the temporary care of both boys and girls ages 6-17, who are either alleged to have been abused or neglected or are alleged to have committed a non-violent delinquent act.
Day Reporting
Day Reporting provides weekday supervision, educational planning and instruction, life skills development, community service opportunities and cognitive behavioral programming to delinquent children as an alternative to Secure Detention.
Food Service
Food service employees have only minimal contact with residents. Food service staff prepare meals for all campus residents and ensure that the kitchen environment meets acceptable standards of food safety and sanitation.

Part-time Youth Care Specialist for secure and non-secure facilities. Applicant must be able to work varied shifts - evening, overnight and weekend shifts available. Starting pay $9.00 per hour.
